BLD Players Lead US Lacrosse BRIDGE Team at U-13 Youth Lax Fest

07/01/2010

With unbridled enthusiasm, seventeen BRIDGE Lacrosse Dallas players and their two chaperones boarded a plane at DFW on Thursday, June 10 to fly to the U-13 US Lacrosse Youth Lax Fest at Lebanon Sports Complex in Warren County, Ohio. For many of these kids, it was their first time on an airplane and for some, their first trip outside the state of Texas. Once in Ohio they quickly settled in to meet their coaches and teammates--all from other US Lacrosse BRIDGE programs around the country.

Over the three days of the Festival, the girls' and the boys' BRIDGE teams played five games each. In between games there was time for an all-teams barbecue and social, where players got to meet and interact with each other off the field and a visit to a local water park where they could just hang out with their teammates from other parts of the country.

BRIDGE Lacrosse Dallas sixth grader, Reggie Blouin enthused, "I had an outstanding time. I got to meet new people from Washington, Florida, and more people from Dallas. I had a great time playing other lax teams as well as learning new skills that I will use throughout my lax years."

The Festival, which ran from June 11-13, included over 600 boys and girls from 32 teams and 13 states throughout the US. Expenses for the girls and boys BRIDGE teams were underwritten by US Lacrosse, local BRIDGE chapters, and a few generous donors. BRIDGE Lacrosse Dallas is most grateful for the generosity of all these underwriters and donors who helped make the trip possible for our players.

Testimonial

"I've seen [my son's] work ethic has increased at school and at lacrosse.  They have taken some licks and have bounced back.  Same as in life--you get knocked down, you have to get back up.  In lacrosse, you have to get back up because the game keeps going.  There's teamwork involved--it has made my older son more of a leader.  He helps the younger kids.  It has made him more responsible."
