A special thank you to Irma Rangel Panthers mom Lisa Kamuyu

04/24/2009

Bridge Lacrosse Dallas thanks Lisa Kamuyu for her extra-ordinary volunteer commitment helping to enable the program's continued success!

While it's her daughter, Molly, who plays the game, Lisa Kamuyu has all the attributes coaches look for in a strong and skilled team player.  The "Go To" Mom for the Irma Rangel Panthers Lacrosse team, Lisa has proven her leadership abilities many times over, organizing and facilitating membership fees, team snacks, transportation, uniforms and other activities that enable the team to function smoothly.  Mother of Panther goalie, Mollie Kamuyu, Lisa discovered lacrosse when Molly decided to join the team in its inaugural year.  "I went to games but found I needed to learn more.  Earlier this season when it looked like we might not have use of our field this year, I was determined that the school continue with lacrosse.  After all the hard work the girls put into it and their keen interest in the sport, it was too important to ignore."  After many phone calls, letters, and meetings, the field was secured for Panther practices and games.

When Lisa isn't working on lacrosse, she teaches both deaf and hearing children at Callier Preschool.  She loves to read (current book is The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova). She absolutely can't live without coffee but chocolate is a close second.  A native of Chicago, Lisa has lived in Dallas for 28 years.  When asked what she'll be doing in ten years, she replies, "I'm retired, thinking about moving to Charleston, SC and still involved in lacrosse."

Testimonial

"At the first of the season, I didn't know anything about the lacrosse culture....  We've played all sorts of sports but something about lacrosse is more special because it exposes my kid to other environments and it exposes him to other cultures.  It's like an American Melting pot and everybody comes together and they enjoy themselves....And we're just very thankful....  And we look forward to future events with lacrosse."
